In the Quiet

I went to the park to have a quiet moment.
I went with my book, my imagination,
and my thoughts. I carried them in my head,
twisting in bunches.
When I reached my destination
I let them seep into my body and nerves.
It all came out of my head in a loud,
destructive sing-song.

I found an ugly, broken, unshaped face
missing an eye, but when the light
lands on it, the reflection is so bright
it can light a million minds.
Eroding to earth’s surface, flipping,
turning, rolling, floating,
but with a moment of silence, it’s still.
I redeem myself in a colorful, imaginary world;
the nerve in my head swishes and curls.
