Two weeks ago
I planted a lot of watermelon.
And they are barely starting to grow.
I’m all excited about it
Because I know
I’m going to be proud of myself
When I take a bite
From the first watermelon I planted.
There was one time
Where I planted corn
And it took a lot of work
But at the end
It was actually worth it
Because we even did
Some good tamales
Of corn.
“Man, they were so good.”
We ate the tamales with cream
From my Dad’s cow
So everything that we ate
Came from our own work.
