Birds by Milischent

Birds in trees
sing out their hearts
to fill the air
with lovely songs.

I hear the birds
whispering to themselves.
I see other birds
fly up to the sky.

Then the birds stop
singing. I close
my eyes,
but they’re nowhere to be
seen.

As I walk
away I feel
as if I want to
fly in the air
and sing out
my own heart.
